Indicators

Average gross wage
Average monthly gross wage from the Statistics Poland Local Data Bank (P2497, by PKD section P2797). It covers a different range of entities than the annual national economy average announced by Statistics Poland, so the national value differs from that announcement. P2497 · 2002 - 2025
Average gross wage (quarterly)
Average monthly gross wage by region, Statistics Poland quarterly data (P2504), including annual bonuses. This dataset has no value for Poland as a whole. P2504 · 2005-Q1 - 2026-Q2
Enterprise sector (monthly)
Average monthly gross wage in the enterprise sector (Statistics Poland short-term data, P2687, PKD 2007). This is a different population from the national economy: only some PKD sections and the entities covered by the monthly survey. P2687 · 2010-01 - 2026-08
Median gross wage
Median monthly gross wage from the survey Wage distribution in the national economy (P4610), by the employee's place of residence, both sexes. P4610 · 2024-01 - 2026-04
Average from the wage distribution survey
Average monthly gross wage from the same survey as the median (P4609), by place of residence. Only this average can be compared directly with the median. P4609 · 2024-01 - 2026-04
Wages by occupation group
Average gross wage in October by occupation group from the survey Structure of wages by occupation (Statistics Poland domain knowledge base). Each edition is a separate observation, with no data in between. DBW 928 · 2014-10 - 2024-10

Formulas

  • Nominal change = end value / start value - 1.
  • Real change = (1 + nominal change) / (1 + cumulative price change) - 1, on unrounded values.
  • Cumulative inflation = the product of successive Statistics Poland price indices, never a sum of yearly rates.
  • Index = value / value in the base period × 100. A series with no value in the base period is not rebased on another period.
  • Regional difference: as a percentage A / B - 1, as an amount A - B.
  • Compound annual rate = (end value / start value) to the power of 1 / number of years, minus 1, for whole years and positive values only.

Price index (CPI)

Yearly data is deflated with the yearly price index (previous year = 100, BDL P2955), quarterly data with the quarterly index (P2496, from 2026 P4635 under COICOP 2018), and monthly data with the monthly index from the Statistics Poland table since 1982 (December of the previous year = 100). The index is national and covers all households.

Limitations

  • Each indicator describes a different population: they are not joined into one series or compared directly.
  • Classification changes (PKD 2004, PKD 2007, PKD 2025, COICOP 1999 and 2018, the occupation classification) can break comparability. Such periods are marked with a status.
  • Statistics Poland revises published data. Every import checks for changes and does not publish a new set before validating it.
  • Gaps are not filled: values are not interpolated and points separated by a gap are not joined by a line.
  • Historical data is neither a forecast nor an individual wage valuation.
