MySkillsSpace is designed for two sides of professional collaboration: specialists and employers. They use the same platform, but they have different goals, different needs and different workflows. That is why we do not try to fit both roles into one universal profile.
Two roles, one shared ecosystem
Specialist
- Builds a public professional profile
- Shows experience, skills and professional strengths
- Presents portfolio work and real examples
- Publishes professional services
- Controls profile visibility
- Can be discovered by employers and clients
Employer
- Builds a company profile
- Discovers specialists by relevant expertise
- Reviews experience and portfolio work
- Saves interesting profiles and services
- Starts conversations and sends invitations
- Uses a dedicated Employer workspace
The Specialist workspace starts with capabilities
For specialists, MySkillsSpace is intended to organize their professional presence online. A profile does not stop at a job title. It brings together experience, skills, Professional Strengths, portfolio work, services and collaboration preferences.
This gives someone viewing the profile a faster way to understand not only where a person worked, but most importantly what they can do and how they can help.
- Profile
The specialist presents career history, an introduction, location and information that provides useful professional context.
- Skills
Technical and professional capabilities make the person's actual area of expertise easier to understand.
- Portfolio
Projects and work examples add evidence to the capabilities presented in the profile.
- Services
A specialist can describe a specific service and show the types of collaboration they are currently available for.
Employers need a different profile and different tools
An employer is not a specialist with different wording in the menu. They represent a company or organization and have a different goal: find the right expertise, understand the specialist's profile and start a meaningful conversation.
That is why the Employer workspace is built around a company profile, specialist discovery, saved profiles and services, communication, invitations and tools that make it easier to return to interesting people.
- Company profile
Logo, description, location, work model and public company information help specialists understand who is contacting them.
- Discovery
Employers can search for specialists through capabilities, experience and other available criteria.
- Saved items
Interesting profiles and services can be saved and revisited later.
- Contact
Messages and invitations connect profile discovery with a concrete professional conversation.
Shared features do not mean a shared profile
Both roles use part of the same MySkillsSpace infrastructure. This includes the account, authentication, messages, notifications, saved items and reusable interface components. Sharing these capabilities does not mean a specialist and an employer should use the same business profile.
Where behavior is genuinely shared, we use the same mechanisms. Where user goals differ, the experiences remain separate.
- One account and secure authentication
- A shared messaging system
- A shared notification system
- Consistent design and navigation
- Separate profiles and business workflows for each role
More context should not mean less privacy
Different roles also create different requirements for data visibility. Specialists should control which parts of their profile are public, while employers should expose only the company information intended for the public Company Profile.
We are developing MySkillsSpace so public data projections are deliberate and limited to the information genuinely needed by the other side of the platform.
The goal is not more profiles. The goal is better connections
The number of accounts alone does not create a valuable marketplace. Value appears when the right person can be discovered through real capabilities and both sides have enough context to decide whether starting a conversation makes sense.
That is why we develop separate Specialist and Employer experiences while connecting them through one ecosystem of discovery, services and communication.
Specialists and employers use one platform, but they should not be forced into the same profile.
What we will develop next
Separating the Specialist and Employer workspaces gives us a stronger foundation for further development. New capabilities can address the actual goal of each role instead of turning one universal dashboard into a growing collection of exceptions.
It also makes it easier to evolve public profiles, discovery, saved items, communication and future collaboration models without mixing the responsibilities of both sides.
Key directions
- Stronger public specialist profiles
- Continued development of company profiles
- More useful capability discovery
- Better context in invitations and messages
- Development of saved specialists and services
- A consistent experience across desktop and mobile
Frequently asked questions
Specialists and employers on MySkillsSpace
Do specialists and employers use the same profile?
No. Both roles use the same platform, but they have separate profiles and role-specific features that match their goals.
What can a specialist profile contain?
A profile can present experience, skills, Professional Strengths, portfolio work, services and information related to collaboration preferences.
What can an employer profile contain?
An employer profile focuses on the company, its description, location, work model and other public information that helps specialists understand who is contacting them.
Do both roles use messages and notifications?
Yes. Some capabilities are shared across the platform, but they are presented within the appropriate Specialist or Employer workspace.
Why are the profiles separate?
